The Champ!
I went deep into my archives yesterday (holy crap, and I mean DEEP...some of this stuff was on floppy discs...) and recovered all these Champ album covers I'de done over the years.
For those not familiar with "The Champ", it originated as a sketch done by McLean and McLean, then expanded into radio 'minisodes' by my buddy, Jake Edwards, a Canadian radio institution and genius in his own right ('Bro Jake', for those living in Vancouver, or Winnepeg, or Ottawa, or Halifax...or any city he's broadcasted in his long career)
Check out the cartoon I made of The Champ here:
Anyhoo, enjoy! It's all, like, for fun.

Scooby Doo Night of the Living Doo Part 1
I directed this Scooby Doo episode several years ago for Cartoon Network. It's an irreverant take on the series, with Gary Coleman, David Cross and Mark Hamill all doing voices. Fun stuff. Enjoy! (Oh yeah, it's just part #1, go to my YouTube channel to watch part #2: http://www.youtube.com/user/steveevangelatos)
Rich Dog Poor Dog!
Some pages from my latest pitch, and it's about...yah, you guessed it...a rich dog and a poor dog, who live next door to each other. I've got the pilot script done now, and am fleshing out more images. I think it's a great idea, especially in this day and age, making light of the discrepancy between rich and poor in a funny and irreverant way (yah, the poor dog is the cool dude, and the rich dog is the a-hole...), but more than that, it could simply be a fun cartoon in the classic form.

Hot Stuff
File this one under "On The Backburner"!
A couple of years ago, Chuck Gammage and myself were enjoying a couple of beers at the Ottawa Animation Festival, and talking about all the great comics of our childhood, and the old Harvey property "Hot Stuff" came up. We both loved it as kids, so we decided to take a crack at pitching it as an animated series to the current copyright owners. I drew up these initial designs, and we pitched it, but the project stalled after that: the owners felt that America wasn't ready for a cartoon about a devil...it could be construed as pitching devil worship to kids, or something like that. Despite the fact it was a successful comic in the 60's. All I can say is "Hell..." The story is ongoing and I will keep you updated.

Gold Stars Are For Suckers
I did a simple line drawing for this CD cover last week. It's the debut album of a local Vancouver band, the members of which are all good friends of mine. Their sound is pretty amazing; I think they'll do really well with this all-original album. You can listen to it here: http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/artist_songs/1257297

Time to lean, time to clean...or work on pitches!
I'm between jobs this week, so it's time to pull out the vacuum, dust cloth and peroxide (cough). And to get back to my favourite thing in the world, my pitches. I've been working on this one, called "Meat and Gravy", for a couple of years now. Here's some page samples.
It's about two thirty-something private eyes with a specialty...the supernatural. Let me know what you think.

Bits 'n Pieces #1
There's a rock act known in these parts (B.C., Alberta) as the best ACDC tribute band around. A local newspaper was doing a cover story on them, so the paper hired me to do a caricature of the band for the cover. Afterwards, the band, friends of mine anyway, asked if they could use it as the background for thier website.

L.O.S.E!
I'm currently in the midst of storyboarding for Nerdcorps entertainment, a great outfit based out of Vancouver. The show is called "League of Super Evil", and is possibly the funnest thing I've ever done boards on.
It's also a fun show to watch. Like Ren and Stimpy, Spongebob Square pants, and even Bugs Bunny, it's great because it doesn't actually try to teach or preach...it's just pure fun. That's what cartoons should be about!!
Clockwork Girl
In September of 2010 I was asked to join the crew of a feature called The Clockwork Girl for a few weeks.
Though the film was in full production, I was told I only needed to storyboard a few sequences; it should only take a few weeks. Well, I worked there till March, producing over 3000 panels of storyboards in 5 months (about 3/4 of the film).
Though the film was troubled at the start, now that most of the problems have been worked out I really think this is going to be a great little movie!
So I made this iPhone App...
It's been a while since I last posted here, so I have some catching up to do...it's been a busy year!
Here are some screenshots from the iPhone app I designed last summer, based on the popular Canadian radio comedy, "The Champ". The programming was done by my buddy Chris Jackson, a Windows programmer, who taught himself Apple programming from scratch. We both learned a lot along the way...most importantly, building an iPhone app isn't the road to easy money. It was a lot of work, but fun, and I hope this shows in the final result. I've also included the intro animated segment...yeah, it's sideways, because it plays on the iPhone in the upright position...
